Enjoyed your comments. I must make one point:
Injuries at this level cannot be an excuse not to win. Other teams — ours, too — have won titles with backup quarterbacks. We got beat by them in how many games last year? Lehigh and other teams have had (undersized) third-string running backs starting (and starring) in playoff games. Lines perenially get banged up and lose multiple players.
It’s football.
Good coaching, though, ensures a team atmosphere, where students learn the system, teach others and pick each other up. It’s like a fraternity.
This isn’t about 25 players — it’s about an entire system. And, yes, it’s tough to rely on freshmen.
Let’s hope there are fewer injuries this year. These kids get so little time on the field over the course of their lives compared to any other sport, so let them have fun.
