All this yammering about quarterbacks and coaching elsewhere on the board, yet this was the actual problem last week, not quarterback play or head coaching decisions.
My question is, how do we get improvement in both trenches through the rest of the season?
On the D line and linebacking units, freshmen need to grow up really fast and play like juniors, especially Jake Buskirk if Caslow is out. (To be fair, Buskirk looked good in limited action last week.) Lynn also wasn’t bad but will need to play longer in the rotation.
On the O line it seems like it may have been a matter of focus, at least that’s what I’m hoping. Penalties were killer, and against Bucknell we can’t afford to squander opportunities. Like Yale Bucknell plays a big 4-man front and additionally last week shifted their 295 lb DE to DT. They may try something similar this week.
