There is a lot that goes into putting a schedule together but I was told by those who do it (several years ago) that availability is the biggest obstacle. It is my best guess that we may start with the higher profile teams while our slate is clean for obvious reasons. Then proceed to games we are committed to. By that time finding matching dates can be far more problematic. The game in question usually results from needing one more opponent and having relatively few options available on the dates we are looking at. Historically we have scheduled Muhlenburg, Arcadia, Swarthmore etc but even these schools may have completed their schedules or have academic reasons (finals etc) why not to do this. Doc may have been providing a favor or someone may have provided a favor to Doc. It really makes no difference. Our bench gets an opportunity to shine.
