While everyone was in mourning over the result of a football game in NYC and the “less than stellar” start to Men’s Basketball, we may have missed some “gloatable” moments in Lehigh sports.
1.)Elizabeth Weiler became Lehigh’s 1st Women’s Cross Country All American and only the 2nd in Patriot League histroy by finishing in 38th place in the NCAA meet.
2.)Ryan Mahalsky just missed All-American status (Top 40) byt finishing in 46th place, the highest by a Lehighe male runner ever.
3.)Our very young Women’s volleyball team had one of it’s finest seasons ever by going 14-2 in the PL and finishing as runnerup. Note: PL Champ American lost only one match in the PL, to Lehigh.
4.)Lehigh Men’s and Women’s Swimming team crushed Lafayette on the day preceding the football game. The women set 3 new school records.
5.)The wrestling team has defeated two top 15 teams and currently stands at #10 in the Nation, losing only to perennial power Penn State.
6.)Women’s basketball has started the season 4-0, which is the best start in 30 years.
7.)Lehigh Men’s basketball begins to right the ship, beating a Big East team for the 1st time in over 10 years. It’s OK to smile again

November 30, 2014 at 6:09 pm #16997Talk about a scare, if you go to the stats for the Lehigh-Palo Alto game, it shows that we lost. Apparently, they changed the names and logos but kept the play by play for Columbia. Pheeew.
November 30, 2014 at 9:24 pm #16998Slight correction:
The Men’s Basketball team just won their 2nd straight. I know, the competition was light but the subs played well. The Women’s Basketball team is 5-0..for the 1st time since the Muffy McGraw era at Lehigh. Martins with her 5th straight double/double.
Wrestling is now 5-1 with a big win over #15 Nortwestern. Granted NW forfeited 2 bouts but it wouldn’t have impacted the W/L
C’mom we can smile.

December 1, 2014 at 1:10 pm #17001“Can we gloat again ?”
Privately – yes.
On a forum – not good.
Why be malicious and sneer at opponents you have beaten?Today you look arrogant and tomorrow you look like a fool when your team loses.Fans should celebrate, exalt, applaud, support their athletes, etc. – not thumb their noses at the opposition.
December 2, 2014 at 1:28 am #17009I will gloat! Been watching TV on a 40″ 60hz flat screen for years and enjoyed every moment. Just ordered a 55″ 120hz at a ridiculous price. Cannot wait for Santa to deliver. Anyone else get great deals? Please gloat,as I can’t wait for that 1st sporting event on the new TV. Merry Christmas to all.
December 3, 2014 at 4:24 am #17032The wrestling team is currently exceeding most expectations and have been without three starters that past three matches: Minotti at 149, Milonas at 157 and Wessel at 285. Would be great to see a nice crowd in Grace Hall Saturday and Sunday afternoons against Penn and Rider (who recently knocked off Wisconsin).
