AU (7-15, 5-6) and ranked 308th nationally and 7th in PL
    @
LU (7-14, 5-5) and ranked 232nd nationally and 6th in PL
    LU wins by 7 (65-58)

Here’s hoping Mr. Pomeroy has it pegged again. He’s on a hot streak of late.

      Opponent/Forecast/Actual

    Loyola/Loyola by 6/Loyola by 5
    Boston U./ BU by 4/BU by 2
    Colgate U./LU by 2/LU by 9
    Navy /Navy by 1/Navy by 5

How tight is the PL ?

Well, should we pull off the victory tomorrow night and for the first time in PL play this season notch back-to-back wins, we could actually vault from 6th place in the Standings to 3rd behind Bucknell and Navy. How? With wins by Army over Loyola, Lafayette over Boston U., and Navy over Colgate, that’s how.

      A Look Back

In our first matchup against AU, we led wire-to-wire and won by 15, thanks primarily to the hot hands of AP, KL and KR. The starting guards poured in 43 of the team’s 65 points. The game will long be remembered by TK as the one in which we was held to a season low 4 points and 2 rebounds in 22 minutes of playing time before picking up his 6 and final PF. I’m looking for Tim to make his presence felt this time around and punish the team that is 9th at defending the two-point shot in the League @ 52.9%. Another aspect of the game sure to be of interest to me tomorrow, as it was back on January 9th, is the way in we handle AU’s “slowdown” style of play. The Eagles rank dead last in all of college basketball (#351) in Tempo of play. Each offensive possession measures out – on average – at 21.2 seconds. In fact, in our first meeting, AU didn’t register one “fact break” point.

      Say what!?

Two night ago AU 69 – Bucknell 55 Here’s a report on how that game went down:

Wow. Bucky really laid an egg in that one. 37% from the floor, and 0-15 from three. Can’t expect to see that happen often. Have to wonder how good AU’s D is. That 37% could mean very good defense, but it’s also true that opponents’ 3-pt% is one of the stats that the D has the least influence over, per KenPom research. If my math is right, Bucky shot a solid 52% from 2.
Let’s hope our good 3pt-shooting continues this weekend!

Well Loyola and Boston pulled it off. Needed a loss from both. Must win tonight

10-0 to start. Stabler looking even more empty than usual. Rare Sat night tip.

American’s center may be the worst D1 player I have ever seen. Why they throw the ball to him in post, I have no idea. Talk about no post moves.

Team played really well tonight. Everybody contributing. Jumped on AU early, then stepped on them and cruised. Nice to see us blowout a weaker team.

Great day! Spanked AU across the board, and lax squashed NJIT. Granted, AU wrestling and NJIT lax are probably no real threat, but I’ll enjoy anyway! Topped off by a stress-free MBB game. Great balanced team effort. AU didn’t look like they belonged on the court.
Hopefully, this builds some confidence to carry into Easton.

Finally the team we were anticipating!! If this carries over into a nice solid win over the Leotards Monday night, then just maybe the corner has been turned. Fingers crossed.

Impressive performance by LU last night. Are we that good or is American that bad? That team won five-in-a-row including a double-digit win over Bucknell? Doesn’t seem possible. The PL appears to be Bucknell and then everybody else. Makes Wednesday’s game in Lewisburg very interesting

What was there not to like about last night’s win? Was it…….

The cmplete and utter dominance of a team that came in riding a 5-game winning streak

The way we out-rebounded the Eagles 37-28 – a team that had out-rebounded their prior two foes (Bucky and Navy) 64-53

Allowing AU just 2 second chance points

Our 67% A/FGM mark with 9 LU players recording one or more helpers

Holding their star performer, Jesse Reed (10th leading scorer in PL) to 7 points with none in the second half

Outscoring AU by 22 (36-14) in the paint

1330 fans, our 10-piece Pep-band, full roster of LU Cheer leaders and LU Dance Team

A refocused/energized KR with 6 pts, 5 assists, and but one TO

Jesse’s career high (unless someone can find a better game) 7 assists

KL’s 8th double-digit scoring game in the PL and his 17
for 30 mark over the last three to include .500 3FG%

The bench explosion when former manager/now walk-on Jay Jay recorded a picture perfect assist in the closing seconds of the game

And, best of all, Coach Reed’s persistent efforts to bring out the best from his players. You would have thought we were losing by 20 the way he screamed instructions and, in general, got after his team from the sideline and along the bench. He once pulled KL out of the game – long before his line change was due – to let him know, in no uncertain terms up close and personal (2 inches away) , that all was not right in the way he executed his defensive assignment. Minutes later, KL joined the party taking place on the court. Lesson learned.

coach has been (and needs to be) much more animated the past few games, lot of comments have been made about Jesse’s game here, but we are really gonna miss him, he has played really well all season and especially in PL games

I used to cringe when JRG came in the game, but no more as he has really upped his contribution and makes the most of his minutes, DC not so much
